Well the year is almost over and the Shed will be having a break over Christmas. We will be closing on Sat 21st December 2024 and reopening on Sat 4th January 2025.
Our Shed opened in March 2014, new members and visitors are always welcome.
We currently have over 120 members on our books, but usually 5 to 25 members attend on any given day. It is open on more days than any other shed in the Canberra region.
The Shed is 15 by 9 meters and has been purposely designed and built as a Men’s Shed. It is fully insulated, with a kitchen, air-conditioning, disabled access, toilet and tools.
We engage mostly in wood and metalworking projects, as well as some other specialised areas.
It’s not just about the tools, so for those that just want to come for a chat or coffee/tea we have the kitchen and a great meeting table. It’s a MEN’s SHED, not a workhouse, so come and enjoy yourself.
Membership is compulsory and is currently $60 per year due 30 June each year. It will be going up to $75 as from 1 July, 2025.
Members are encouraged to get involved with the community projects we undertake or work on their own projects.
To join or find out more, just turn up at the shed when we are open.
BCMS is part of the Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA)
AMSA
The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) is the national service provider supporting more than 1,200 Men’s, Women’s and Community Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male-based community development organisations.
AMSA was established in 2007 by a collection of Australian independent community-based Men’s Sheds to represent, support and promote the Men’s Shed movement. It was founded on the principle of sharing information between sheds and those communities wishing to establish and operate a Men’s Shed. It acts as a central hub for information exchange.
Our Mission
Our mission is to enjoy each other’s company and wisdom and promote positive lifestyles, while sharing our skills for the benefit of individuals and the community.
