AGM

A very successful AGM was held on Wednesday 24th July with a great turn out.  Reports were presented by the President, Treasurer, Shed Manager, Safety, Property, Newsletter and IT officers with special thanks to the outgoing Committee for their exceptional service and dedication from Gordon.

For the first time we have volunteers as understudies, thus enabling continuity in future years and also less reliance on the one person to undertake the multitude of tasks.  Many thanks to those who volunteered for the committee and who were elected to the following positions:

Role: Committee members Understudies
President Gordon Cooper
Shed Manager Spencer Featherstone John Colquhoun
Membership Claudio Cellero Bruce Millar
    Tim Carlton
Treasurer Iven Laufer Ian Ruecroft
Safety John Colquhoun Tom Brimson

Importantly the proposed changes to the Shed Charter and Rules which were simplified and adapted to match how the shed currently works were unanimously endorsed and are now implemented.

As part of this process members are requested to acknowledge the amended Shed Rules and Charter which are aimed at keeping the shed as safe, friendly and supportive as we can for all members as mentioned in the previous newsletter.

The minutes of the AGM will be posted on the Shed notice board in the kitchen in due course.

Shed Safety

Our Shed has an enviable safety record with very few very minor incidents and no significant injuries.  Many thanks to Bob for installing "how to use" and "safety hints" on all of our fixed machinery.  To maintain this achievment the Safety Officer and his helper will continue to prepare and enhance the simple record system to ensure that we all know how to safely use relevant machinery.  The checklists that will be associated with accreditation are completed for some machines and others are in preparation.  Each member will have the machines for which they have been accredited identified on their name badges.  In the coming months those without accreditation will need to have an accredited helper with them whilst they are using the machinery.

This process will help to keep our shed safe and our insurance premiums manageable.
