The Shed has a wide range of tools, machinery and equipment that enable our members to undertake projects for themselves and for the wider community.
Our workshops are equipped with equipment for plastic fabrication, stained-glass work, woodworking and metalworking, including table saws, band saws, a drop saw, a thicknesser, belt sander, drum sander, welders, a sheet-metal guillotine, brake press, roller, wood lathe, and metal lathe. We also have a CNC machine, 3D printer, and laser cutter for precision projects and modern fabrication. We are also equipped with a computer, printer and a large screen TV.
From hand tools and workbenches through to specialised machinery, these resources allow members to develop skills, share knowledge and work safely on projects of all sizes.
Importantly, our tools and equipment are not just for the benefit of our members. They help us support local schools, charities, community organisations.
The Shed continues to invest in maintaining and improving its equipment so that members have access to safe, reliable and useful facilities. Through the generous support of donors, sponsors, grant providers and our members, we can provide opportunities for people to learn new skills, remain active, make social connections and give back to the community.
Members receive training and accreditation before using specialised equipment.
